The folder “itunes” is on a locked disk or you do not have write permissions for this folder.

Recently, when trying to open iTunes by double clicking the desktop computer symbol, a messge appears stating "The folder iTunes is on a locked disk or you do not have actually compose permissions for this folder". It used to open up okay and now I have to appropriate click on icon and also "run as administrator" for iTunes to open up. Under Program Files in Windows Explorer I checked the iTunes folder"s pergoals under Properties and have actually the following access permissions:

Creator Owner = Special Permissions

Administrators = Full Control

Users = Read and Execute; List Folder Contents; Read. Write is unchecked.

For kicks I put up one more user account on my computer. Double clicking the iTunes desktop under that second user account icon does open up iTunes.

What do I need to deal with to obtain iTunes to open up by double clicking its desktop computer symbol without having actually to run it as an administrator? Could it be a locked file or folder permission that someexactly how needs to be changed? What need to I look for and how to fix?

Thanks. dh

Thank you turingtest2!

To summarize resolve for others: Right-click the primary iTunes folder under C: Users -> Your User Name-> My Music->iTunes. Click Properties, then go to the Security tab and click State-of-the-art. If vital approve your account and also SYSTEM full control of this folder, subfolders and papers, then tick the alternative to rearea permissions on child objects which will repair perobjectives throughout the library.

Access permsiions for iTrack folders under Program Files (x86) and on the exterior drive were supposedly not the difficulty for me.

Applied "readjust access permissions" settle to the iTunes folder under C: Users -> User Name-> My Music->iTunes. Fixed and also working!

First solve attempt - used the solve to the iTunes routine folder - did not resolve. Your initially response said to click your main iTunes folder. I took that to suppose the primary folder under Program Files (x86) however you intended the exterior drive.

Second deal with attempt - applied solve to the iTunes folder on exterior drive My Music - did not resolve. Then used solve to the external drive root folder - still did not deal with. Your second response said you intfinished to intend the library/media folders on the outside drive.

Apparently the difficulty was with iTunes folder and also file perobjectives under C: Users -> your user name-> My Music->iTunes. For my computer the difficulty was not iTrack folder access permissions under Program Files or on the exterior drive.
