Surge protector making high pitched noise

Not sure if this is the right sub, but I noticed that my power strip periodically makes a high pitched noise once it’s overloaded, and stops as soon as I unplug one of the tools. Wright here is this sound coming from? Should I continue making use of this power spilgrimage or is it faulty?

First thing: Overloading a power sexpedition is bad! Don't do it.

Second thing: Are you sure it's the power strip and also not the gadget you're unplugging?

Transformers and also PSUs (wall-warts) occasionally "whine" due to the minute forces brought about by electrical current travelling with the components within (coils etc.). It's commonly even more noticeable via lower high quality gadgets because the manufacturer has a tendency to make bit initiative via optimizing the electronics additionally than what's essential.

Unless the noise is unbearable, or you notice interference or huge amounts of warm or inexplicable smells coming from the devices it's typically ok.

It might be electronic devices within the power strip e.g. surge security circuiattempt but it's doubtful.

My guess, which you have the right to partially verify, is that the noise is brought about by the specific current wavecreate of among your tools which plays with a component in the power strip--more than likely the circuit breaker.
