Hdmi to dvi adapter not working

Hdmi (output) to monitor by means of HDMI-->DVI cable (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812189057)

The USB cable is plugged into my lappeak doing the recording. Roxio software application picks up a picture and everything appears fine. So the signal from the xbox through the roxio to the lapheight appears fine, I deserve to document without problem.

You watching: Hdmi to dvi adapter not working

Problem: Monitor picks up no signal. So monitor is blank, no photo.

I"ve looked into multiple threads and also these are the just 2 relevant ones I found:

http://vr-tab-quebec.com/topic/83745-hdmi-input-to-hdmi-output-to-hdmi-dvi-cord-for-pc-streaming/

Conclusion: Somepoint is wrong through the roxio firmware/software

http://vr-tab-quebec.com.assistance.roxio.com/topic/83513-hdmi-to-dvi-problems/

Conclusion: I have to buy some sort of passive splitter

So WTF, why won"t it send a signal via constant HDMI to DVI? Am I absent something?

It can also be the cable or the input on your monitor.

Is the cable the correct one and also does the monitor accept the input.

Tbelow are different kinds of DVI relationships.Digital and also Analog are 2.If the cable or the monitor input do not enhance then that could be a trouble.

If Jim was able to acquire a snapshot then it have to occupational as lengthy as things complement.

I"d look to make sure that the input on the monitor is DVI-D and also the cable is additionally.

If the monitor is trying to find a DVI-A input it won"t job-related.

"YOU DO need to Manually collection the Monitor to correct source"

There isnt any other source. Thats the just point plugged into the monitor and also so the menu to choose a resource is unaccessible given that, to the monitor, nopoint is plugged in.

As for the cable form, did you view the link(http://www.newegg.co...N82E16812189057)? It doesn"t specify if it"s DVI-D (Edit: After some research it turns out it is a DVI-D cable), the monitor does take DVI-D (http://www.newegg.co...N82E16824116054).

I do not think there is anything wrong via the cable personally. Would a HDMI to VGA job-related you think? If I need to buy an additional cable I could also try it out?

What is your DVI cable?

DVI-I (included - digital & analog)

DVI-D (digital only)

DVI-A (analog only)

Don"t know?

Try different cables if they are accessible and re-examine all connections.

Don"t know?

Try different cables if they are available and re-examine all relationships.

I currently did every one of that.

I have three settings on my monitor HDMI, Digital, and also Analog.

If I"m not collection for the correct connection my monitor is black!

Oh and one more note. my monitor has actually nopoint else plugged in and also no menu is available if nothing is plugged in. It instantly tries to pick something up and if it can"t it either pops up with "No Signal: Analog" or "No signal: Digital". If you attempt bringing up the monitor menu using the butlots on the side, nopoint pops up if nothing is plugged in. So I can"t really manually set it to digital. I"ve just had actually an idea, I"m going to test that hdmi to dvi cable on another computer/monitor setup, luckily the video card has hdmi and the monitor has actually dvi so I have the right to test that hdmi to dvi cable. I"ll report earlier with the results.

EDIT: The cable works simply fine, like I supposed. The monitor picked up a digital signal and also the image was simply fine at the monitors indigenous resolution (1680x1050). So that cable is not at fault right here... My conclusion is that the roxio is at fault right here. The point is, I don"t think this difficulty will be fixed if I gain another unit. I bought this one new afterall. I think the style of this thing is at fault and I may require a passive convertor prefer that threview I attached to. Too many people are having this same difficulty for it just to be a bad unit from the bunch... or maybe it is many kind of, idk. Either way I"m starting to loose my patience after running about trial and error and buying different cables.

EDIT2: I"ve identified a method to open the monitor food selection, I"ve plugged a laptop right into the analog (D-Sub) slot in my monitor and then setup my roxio and plugged in the dvi. So through the monitor menu I switched the input from analog to digital and then... NOTHING!!! So the roxio sucks &%$.... /rant.
