It all depends what games. AAA? Don"t suppose as well much. Any (most) esport game(s)? Should work-related quite well.

What games?

Modern titles? Set every little thing to Low/Medium, and hope it runs via 30+ fps.

You watching: Can a gtx 1060 run 4k

Older titles run well in 4k. Bioshock 1 regrasp. Final Fantasy 13 Lightning Returns additionally (those 2 i tried, and also they ran exceptionally good).

But contemporary.... yea... go up to a GTX 1080 at least. I promise you, you will NOT have a lot fun in 4k.

1440p is the highest would pair a 1060 with, and then you need to weaken a few settings right here and tright here to have steady 45-60 fps~ in modern-day titles.

E-Sports games would certainly be fine, same via games favor 2012 or older. Relatively contemporary games? Yeah those would certainly need to be running on low if you want anywhere close to 60fps. My minimum for 4k would be the 1070, as that have the right to run a lot of games at medium 60fps and also some at high 60fps. Ideally at 4k, the 1080 is the sweet spot. Many games high settings 60fps, some games ultra, and also the difference between high and ultra in terms of visual fidelity is generally minimal.

But why??? The totality function of 4k is so that your games look baller on med/high settings with AAA on, or for efficiency. Why buy a really expensive screen only to play potato-ish looking games on it? 1440p is what the 6gb 1060 is able to run at 60 fps so I recommfinish going with that.

It is feasible, yet I guess the appropriate would be a 1070. You might get a 1440p and also it would be better. And remember: ultra settings are ALWAYS stupid, and also attempt to optimize your settings manually for much better graphics/performance.

I made a thcheck out on this saying how it"s viable. If you buy a 6GB dual fan version you can easily overclock to 2GHz and also overlcock the memory too. I gain solid 60 at 4K Ultra on DiRT Rally, very same with Forza 6 Apex. For even more demanding games you"ll need to settle for 1440p or reduced framerates.

i think as long as you remain low/med some high settings it will certainly be roughly 45-60 fps as long as you have the 6gb version of this card
