All Asus 6,7, and 8 series motherboards use the more recent UEFI compatible firmware, not the older BIOS firmware. The problem that you explain does happen periodically, some brand-new firmware ROMs ssuggest refuse to flash from within the Asus EZ Flash II menu. This have the right to be resolved by flashing the firmware by utilizing the Asus AI Suite II toolset from within Windows.A while earlier Asus converted from a .ROM format to a .CAP format which transformed the layout of the firmware. I"m not certain if this affects their Z77 based motherboards yet it did affect the X79 based motherboards. To transform from the older .ROM to the more recent .CAP format, Asus gives a conversion tool in the create of a .ROM file which must be flamelted through the latest .CAP file beside it in the filemechanism. Tbelow are instructions on the Asus webwebsite if this is necessary.
